Maseru + Mohale Dam Experience Tour - 2 N / 3 D

Lesotho Overland Excursion- 2 Nights / 3 Days

Day 1: All Meals-Own Cost!

Pick up at Maseru Airport, do the orientation city of Maseru, we will visit the Lesotho Cooperative Handicrafts (Basotho Hats, Baskets, grass products, clay products, and mohair products. We will also visit the Maseru tapestries, and weavers at Maseru West (they have hand-woven tapestries, carpets, and scarves).

Overnight: Botleng Guest House.

Day 2: Breakfast.

Depart at 08h30 for Morija. Visit Morija Museum with its collection of Bushmen Art, Dinosaurs Footprints, Books, Clay Pots, Fossils, old tools used by various tribes, and explanations. The Moeder Craft Center is housed in the oldest building in Morija, 1843, where one may purchase a variety of tapestry, Mohair shoals, souvenirs, etc Proceed via Matsieng, King Palace, and we will get a Basotho guide to take us up to the viewpoint of the palace and he will explain everything ( depending on security) no photographs allowed, we are not allowed to enter inside.

Proceed to Mohale Dam - which is a rock-fill dam in Lesotho. It is part of the Lesotho Water Project, which will eventually include 5 large dams in remote rural areas of Lesotho and South Africa.

The potential of the project was identified by the South African Civil Engineer Ninham Shand (now Aurecon) as a possible means to supplement the water supply to South Africa. The World Bank arranged for a treaty between the then-Apartheid government of South Africa and its much smaller neighbor, Lesotho, allowing the execution of the project to proceed.

With little luck, we will do a boat cruise ride (Boat Tour). Lunch at Mohale excluding soft drinks at maximum price including mineral water. After lunch depart back to Maseru, on the way back we will visit Thaba Bosiu, arriving back at Botleng Guest House at 16h00.

Overnight at Botleng Guest House.

Day 3: Transfer from Lodge to Maseru Airport
