Lesotho Overland Tour – 2 Nights / 3 Days
Day 1: Morija Heritage & Malealea Cultural Experience
All Meals – Own Cost
After breakfast or pick-up from Maseru Airport, we take a 45-minute drive via Matsieng, where the royal family originates, to Morija Museum, where cultural items, historical artifacts, and archives are preserved. Morija is one of the most historic destinations in Lesotho and is home to the oldest church in the country.
The tour then continues to Malealea, a well-known pony trekking center in Lesotho. Upon arrival, the group will begin the day’s village activities, including visiting the local school and taking a guided walk through the village to interact with residents.
The famous traditional Sangoma (traditional healer/herbalist) will also be visited for a consultation experience. Basotho ponies will be available for those who wish to explore nearby waterfalls on horseback. A local band can be arranged for evening entertainment while dinner is served.
Overnight: Malealea Lodge
Day 2: Semonkong & Maletsunyane Falls Adventure
Breakfast
After breakfast, we travel to Semonkong via Roma, home of the National University of Lesotho, where we stop briefly to view the university.
We then continue along the rugged mountain roads of Lesotho, stopping for scenic photographs as we head to Semonkong, known as “The Place of Smoke.” Semonkong is home to the spectacular Maletsunyane Falls, the highest single-drop waterfall in Southern Africa at 204 m.
Upon arrival, lunch can be enjoyed at the lodge (own cost). After lunch, we begin a series of outdoor activities, including visiting Maletsunyane Falls and exploring a nearby village. Local entertainment, such as a traditional choir, can also be arranged.
