Lesotho Overland Tour – 2 Nights / 3 Days

Day 1: Maseru – TY – Ha Kome – Thaba-Bosiu – Roma – Semonkong

All Meals – Own Cost

Depart from Maseru or the airport after breakfast. We begin our tour by traveling to TY, the capital town of the Berea District, where we will stop to shop for local crafts. We then proceed to the Ha Kome Cave Dwellings in the Berea District. These caves have been declared a national heritage site, and some of the original families are still living in them today.

Our journey continues to Thaba-Bosiu, where the Basotho nation was born. The name Thaba-Bosiu means “Mountain at Night.” Here, you will enjoy a rich cultural and heritage experience and gain insight into how Moshoeshoe I and his people moved from Mekhoaneng to Thaba-Bosiu, and why they chose to settle there.

After lunch, we drive to Roma, home to the National University of Lesotho, where we stop to enjoy views of the university, bird watching, and photography. Without spending too much time in this small town, we continue along Lesotho’s rugged roads, capturing scenic views as we head to Semonkong, known as “The Place of Smoke.”

Semonkong is home to the magnificent Maletsunyane Falls, the highest single-drop waterfall in Southern Africa at 204 meters. We arrive in Semonkong in the evening, where the group can relax and enjoy local entertainment over dinner after a long but rewarding road trip.

Overnight at Semonkong Lodge

Day 2: Semonkong – Adventure and Exploration

Breakfast Included

After breakfast, the group will embark on a variety of outdoor activities. There is a wide range of options to choose from:

A tour to see the mighty Maletsunyane Falls by hiking or pony trekking

A village or town tour

A 4x4 excursion to nearby gorges and small waterfalls

Training for abseiling (for those participating in the abseiling experience)

Guests staying for the abseiling activity will continue their training and preparation while enjoying the stunning natural surroundings.

Overnight at Semonkong Lodge

Day 3: Semonkong – Maseru

Breakfast Included

After breakfast, those who wish to experience abseiling will visit the waterfall and participate in the activity, while the rest of the group may relax at the lodge or take part in optional activities such as village tours or 4x4 rides.
