The Lost Culture of Africa
Pickup at Lodge in Underberg or Himeville and transfer to Cobham Nature Reserve, in the Southern Drakensberg! Also known as the Ukahlamba-world heritage site. A story of people who left a legacy of living in the wilderness of Africa for tens of thousands of years in harmony with nature and left hints and clues of their culture on the walls of caves and shelters in the form of incredibly artistic and spiritual paintings.
The San, or Bushmen, are the indigenous people of Southern Africa. Their ancient rock paintings and carvings (collectively called rock art) are found all over Southern Africa in caves and on rock shelters. The San depicted non-human beings, hunters, and half-human half-animal hybrids. The half-human hybrids are believed to be the medicine men or healers.” Their depictions of these medicine men give modern humans evidence that they did do the healing dances.
The walks vary from 1 hour, 1 day, or overnight Hiking Tours, depending on the site chosen, time available, and level of fitness.
