Motebong Lodge is located on the banks of the Katse Dam in Lesotho. It was originally a construction staff residential camp during the building of the Katse Dam’s transfer tunnel. Since then, it has been transformed into a comfortable guest accommodation with a restaurant serving delightful dishes and a well-stocked bar.
The lodge offers direct access to the Katse Dam, making it an exciting spot for water sports. Additionally, Motebong Lodge is an ideal location for high-altitude training and has hosted teams like the South African rowing Olympic team for their training camps. Its peaceful surroundings also make it suitable for team-building sessions, workshops, and even landscape photography. The movie company Giant Films TV even shot a Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) campaign in the scenic surroundings around Motebong Lodge.
If you’re planning a visit, you’ll find Motebong Lodge approximately 45 kilometers before the Katse Dam, just outside the town of Ha Lejone. Whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation, this unique location offers a variety of activities for guests, including fishing, boating, horse riding, and hiking. The fully-furnished and fully-equipped self-catering cottages provide comfortable accommodation, especially during the winter months when they are heated with coal or electric and gas stoves.
So, if you’re ready for a memorable experience by the water, Motebong Lodge awaits!
