+-3 Hours Pony Trek - Botsoela-Waterfall Tour!

Depart Maseru at 08H00 after breakfast or be transferred from Maseru airport at 07H30 and arrive at the lodge, for half a day of activities and lunch.

Panoramic views to the Gates to Paradise valley at 2001 meters above sea level, with farmlands, and grassland around is dotted with the yellow flowers of Euryops, the white Arum Lilies, the bright red and yellow colors of the Red-Hot Pokers, and plenty of other wildflowers.

The walk down takes 1.5 hours down- has loose shale, so please be very careful, but what an experience of picturesque panoramas of the Basalt and Sandstone rock formations and rural villages along the way! Interacting with the local Basotho people along the way and return walk up, is 1,5 hours-therefore the round walk is +- 3 hours.

If we are lucky a small group of boys will be playing and dancing with their homemade musical instrument, which echoes off the Botsoela Falls cliff face. There’s basically only one section you might need help with!

Lunch at Malealea lodge and after lunch, return to Maseru.

The Botsoela waterfall near Malealea is one of the many Lesotho landmarks to feature during the Lesotho Sky stage race. The Malealea Lodge offers guided pony treks to this breathtakingly beautiful site that will turn any yoke into a stoke.

Racing snakes will probably not hang around to appreciate the views for too long, because the steep climb from the falls to the top near the Malealea lodge is the STRAVA section for Day 1. Embrace your inner beast to tackle the strenuous Botsoela climb, followed by a fast downhill. One thing is for sure in Lesotho and that is that there is no even ground.

At the end of the day, riders will pull into the very accommodating Malealea lodge to enjoy a relaxing chat with fellow riders and Maluti court around the fire. It’s just another day in paradise.
